Hello Everyone!

The Italian program at Western is pleased to invite you to our second Serata Italiana, an evening or art and fun with students of Italian, on Thursday, March 26th at 6:30 pm in Conron Hall, UC 224.

Students from our courses will delight us once again with their original poetry written in Italian, Italian poetry readings, excerpts from an Italian-Canadian play, and Italian songs with music by  Mozart and Bellini.

70th Anniversary of the Liberation Symposium

The Italian program at Western University is pleased to invite you to the one-day symposium entitled “Re-think Italian Resistance: History, Literature, Music, and Cinema.” This event will take place on Friday, March 20, 2015, at 10 am in AHB 3B02.

The day will end with the last screening of Cineclub Italiano, L’uomo che verrà, directed by Giorgio Diritti, at 5 pm in AHB 3B02 (please note the new date, time, and location).

Martina is a child growing up during World War Two Marzabotto, close to Bologna, in northern Italy. As the war gets closer to home, people in her village are forced to choose between the support for the partisan brigades or the fear of Nazis reprisal. Eventually, this little girl is forced to experience the Marzabotto Massacre, an infamous event that killed 770 people.
